#WTEN Alan Nagel Top Five in ITA All-Time Winningest DII Coaches

Tempe, AZ- During the Fall the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the All-Time Winningest DII Coaches List, Queens College Women's Tennis head coach Alan Nagel is recognized in all four categories as a NCAA Division 2 head coach. 
 
In the All-Time Top 40 Winningest DII Coaches list, Nagel is ranked number five in victories with an overall record of 557-154. He is the only coach from the Northeast region to have amassed more than 500 wins while ranking #8 with a 78.3 winning percentage. Among the Top 25 active coaches, Nagel is ranked at #4 in victories and #6 in percentage. Also, Nagel is the oldest active coach in the Top 25 wins list with 41 years of coaching experience.

Hired in 1980 to lead the Queens College Knights women's tennis team, Nagel has taken the Knights to new heights while turning the program into one of the northeast perennial powerhouses. In the past two decades, Nagel has led the program to countless conference championships, while appearing in many NCAA Championships, earning a bid in each of the last 19 national tournaments, and advancing to the Final 16 an impressive 10 times. 
 
In 1995, the Knights became the first team with an entire roster comprised of New York City residents to win regionals and advance to the Final 16 round of the NCAA Tournament in Davies, California. Throughout the years, Queens College's tennis teams have taken on an increased international identity. Coach Nagel's team have included players from Morocco, Poland, Russia, Sweden, India, as well as standouts from the New York City region and Florida. Over the years the Knights have been ranked 23rd in the final national ranking and consistently being ranked number one in the East Region rankings. Since 2001 He has been named Coach of the Year 13 times while the Knights have won 14 regular-season East Coast Conference championships. 
 
WTEN 2019 ChampionsThe Knights ended 2019-20 with a 10-1 overall record, as they won the ECC regular-season championship and reclaimed the ECC crown. Queens finished the season being ranked 24th in the nation (highest ranking since the 2011-12 season) and number one in the East.
