NEWARK, N.J. – Preparations for the East Coast Conference championship continued for the Queens College men's and women's cross country programs as the Knights competed in the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge Saturday morning from Branch Brook Park.
Competing against local Division I competitions, the women's finished 15/28 teams, while the men's finished 18/28.
Women's 5K
Sophomore
Alexis Hall (West River, MD) led the women's side with her best time of the season as she finished 58
th with a time of 20:56.92.
Freshman
Fatima Morrobel (Long Beach, N.Y.) earned the 89
th finish as she rounded the course with a time of 22:08.86, while teammate
Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.) was just split second behind finishing 90
th in 22:09.81.
To round the top 100 finishes, freshman
Nicole Colombi (Wantagh, N.Y.) earned 97
th place with a time of 22:29.69. Teammate
Melanie Rodriguez (East New York, N.Y.) completed the course with a time of 26:30.49 to round the Knights day.
Men's 8K
Once again the men's team was paced by graduated student
Njehan Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who placed 29
th with a time of 26:58.90.
Just missing out on a top 50 finish junior
Steven Cuascut (Queens Village, N.Y.) finished the course with a time of 27:56.66.
Freshman
Andrew O'Gorman (Melville, N.Y.) earned 127
th spot with a time of 31:00.65, while teammate
Elijah Ullah(New Windsor, N.Y.) placed 176
th in 36:07.94. To round out the Knights afternoon freshman
Keith Hyland (Levittown, N.Y.) finished the course with a time of 40:09.76.
UP NEXT: Head coach Rob Davis and the Knights travel to Bethpage, N.Y. to compete in the Golden Eagle Invitational Sunday (Oct. 10) at 11:00 a.m.
