Volleyball at Roberts Wesleyan College Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Queens College volleyball team travels to Rochester, N.Y. to take on Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks on Sunday afternoon inside Voller Athletic Center.

Dating back to the 2012 season, the Knights are 4-12 in their 16 game series against the Redhawks. Queens carries a four-game losing streak against Roberts Wesleyan into Sunday. The last win in Rochester came in 2017 as the Knights won a four-setter on Oct. 13, 2017.

The Knights suffered a heartbreaking five-set loss in Flushing with the set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 26-24, 16-25, and 8-16. Lauren Kehoe led the Knights with 15 kills and 13 digs on the day, while Genesis Soto tallied eight kills, 14 digs, and three service aces on the day. Alisha Matthew dished out 29 assists to go along with nine digs, three service aces, and two kills.
 
Scouting Queens College Knights
 
The Knights are 2-11 overall, 1-3 in East Coast Conference play with their lone conference win against D'Youville College. Freshman Christina Franco has reached the century mark in kills with 102 in 13 matches played averaging 2.27 kills per set. Franco has tallied three double-doubles on the season and was named on the ECC Honor Roll spot back on Sept. 7.  Junior Dee-Ana Mitchell is averaging 2.41 kills per set, with 77 kills. Sophomore Leila Hadjeb has been one of the most improved players on the team this season as she tallied a team-high 158 digs and 20 service aces. 
 
Scouting Roberts Wesleyan College
 
The Redhawks are 1-14 overall, 0-5 in ECC play with their sole victory coming over College of Saint Rose in non-conference action. As a team, they are averaging 9.1 kills per set with a .074%, while committing 327 errors on the way. Sydney Yanak leads the team with 101 kills averaging 2.47 kills per set. on the season Yanak has tallied three double-digit kills performance including a season-high 17 kills in the win over Saint Rose. 
 
Next Match-up: Action returns to Flushing on Wednesday as Molloy College Lions come to town in ECC showdown. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
