WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Sept. 6, 2019) - The Queens College volleyball team opened its 2019 campaign by competing in a tri-match at Southern Connecticut State against both the Owls and the Chargers of Dominican (NY) on Friday (Sept. 6). The Knights picked up a split on the evening, sweeping Dominican (NY) before falling in straight sets to Southern Connecticut.
Knights That Shined
- In the opening match versus Dominican (25-13, 25-21, 27-25), Lauren Kehoe led the Knights with eight kills on a .368 hitting percentage with nine digs. The senior also posted three service aces in the win.
- Alisha Matthews dished out 25 assists with Briana Green accumulating seven kills to lead QC to victory.
- Genesis Soto Ruiz debuted with promise, leading Queens with 12 digs as Dee-Ana Mitchell collected ten digs in the victory.

Knights on the Rise
- The Knights' three-set loss to Southern Connecticut (11-25, 18-25, 15-25) saw Maryjane D'Agostino lead all defenders with ten digs.
- Mitchell added a team-high six kills in the loss to the Owls.
Up Next
Queens will host a tri-match on Saturday (Sept. 7) with Le Moyne and Nyack coming to Fitzgerald Gymnasium for a day of volleyball. The Knights host Nyack at 11 a.m. and Le Moyne at 3 p.m. with the other two teams playing a midday match at 1 p.m.
