Men's Tennis Concludes Regular Season with 6-1 Win at Post Wednesday

Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. (Apr. 17, 2019) - The Queens College men's tennis team will coast into the upcoming East Coast Conference Tournament on a three-match winning streak after knocking off Post University by a 6-1 score on Wednesday (Apr. 17).

The Knights (11-7) swept the Eagles in doubles play to commence the match. Richard Sec and Kareem Rashad won a 6-0 shutout against Sam Urban and Ivan Rajevac at the No. 2 tandem while the other two pairings claimed 6-4 wins to put QC ahead by a 1-0 score. In singles play, Queens romped thanks to dominant efforts at fourth-through-sixth sinigles. Sec won at No. 5 by a 6-2, 6-0 score over Joe Alvord while Jose Zurro dispatched Rajevac at the sixth-flight (6-3, 6-0) and Mariano Biblioni took care of Alex Romiev at fourth-singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win. 

Cosme Jubera scored a 6-0, 7-5 win over Jon Compras at the top-flight of singles play while Kareem Rashad and Lucas Demuth had to go the distance in their matches. Demuth knocked off Urban in third singles by a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (12-10) score-line; Rashad, on the other hand, was bested by Nino Krneta in three sets with the scores favoring the Eagles 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Queens will host the ECC Championships which will feature second-seed Saint Thomas Aquinas, third-seed NYIT and fourth-seed Roberts Wesleyan. The Knights will play the Redhawks on Friday (Apr. 26) at a time to be determined.
