FLUSHING, N.Y. (Dec. 14, 2019) – Senior guard
Shomari Redd had 19 points as the Queens College men's basketball team concluded the home portion of its schedule for the 2019 calendar year with an 82-70 loss to Molloy on Saturday (Dec. 14) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
Queens fell to 2-9 on the season and 1-1 in East Coast Conference play while Molloy improved to 5-5 on the season and 2-0 in conference competition with the victory.
Redd shot 8-for-12 from the field and hit three shots from beyond the three-point line in the effort while
Elijah Bovell also accumulated 19 points and six rebounds for the Knights.
Tyrese Crosdale had 14 points and six boards while
David Grady III added 11 points and senior
Kevin Buron pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Nick Corbett's game-high 25 points led the Lions on the afternoon as Josh Dennis added 15 points in the win for Molloy.
The visitors opened up the contest on an 11-0 run and had a 13-3 lead into the first media timeout. Queens never re-took the lead despite getting within three points at 17-14 with nine minutes gone by in the first half. The Lions outscored the Knights by a 24-14 margin to close out the first half up by a 41-28 score. Bovell brought his side within five points at 45-40 on a jumper with four minutes played in the second half but Queens would get no closer.
The Knights wrap up the 2019 portion of the season next Saturday (Dec. 21) at Bridgeport with the contest set for 3 p.m. at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Connecticut.
