FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 16, 2019) - Sophomore forward
David Grady III had a breakout game with 26 points and nine rebounds for the Queens College men's basketball team on Saturday (Nov. 16) but the Knights were defeated in a run-and-gun type of contest with Jefferson. The Rams took a 93-84 showdown at Fitzgerald Gymnasium, improving to 3-0 while sending Queens to an 0-4 record to begin the season.
Grady added nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals to his performance on a night when he shot 11-for-15 from the floor.Â
Elijah Bovell had his second straight game of twenty points or more, hitting the number right on the button with 20 points, hitting 9-of-17 from the field and adding three rebounds while
Tyrese Crosdale poured in 11 points off the bench with a team-high three steals. Junior
Keenan Gorski collected ten points in the effort as well.
Josh Bradanese led all scorers with 30 points on a night in which he broke the 1,000-point plateau for the Rams while DeVaughn Mallory continued a stellar start to his season with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Kylan Guerra added 19 points and six boards as Deondre Bourne added 11 points for Jefferson.
The pace to the contest was frenetic with both teams managing to shoot well from the field in the first half. Queens went 16-for-29 (55.2%) from the floor in the opening twenty minutes; Jefferson countered by shooting 58.1% (18-31) from the floor. The Rams led 49-42 at the break with Bradanese hitting a three-pointer before the final buzzer to not only provide the first-half margin but also reach 1,000 points exactly with the second half still to play. The visitors shot 53% (15-28) in the second half while Queens cooled off just slightly, shooting 47% (17-36) in the final twenty minutes of action.Â
Queens will play the final game of a three-game home-stand on Wednesday (Nov. 20) when the Knights host Southern Connecticut at 8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
