Volleyball Celebrates Officials' Appreciation Week Before Match with Molloy

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2019) - As the East Coast Conference celebrates Division II's Officials Appreciation Week Initiative, the Queens College volleyball team squared off with Molloy College in an ECC bout Tuesday evening (Oct. 8) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. In front of a raucous home crowd for a mid-week match-up in primetime, the Knights were competitive to the end as Molloy reigned victorious in a three-set sweep by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18.

Queens falls to 1-11 on the season and 0-4 in East Coast Conference play while Molloy improves to 14-3 and 4-0 in ECC action.

Knights That Shined
  • Playing in front of a group that included junior varsity and varsity high school players from her alma mater of Longwood High School, sophomore outside hitter Dee-Ana Mitchell led QC with eight kills and eight digs on the evening.
  • The middle attack combined for ten kills with an even split of five between Alexis Deodat and Briana Green.
  • Alisha Matthews dished out 17 assists in the effort with Angie Nicholes posting a team-best 12 digs and Genesis Soto added four kills and eight digs.

A first-time ever match-up comes the way of Flushing on Saturday (Oct. 12) as Queens hosts Florida's Flagler College in a 12 p.m. contest at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
