Lucas Martinez: ECC Elite 18 Award-Winner for Men's Tennis

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 20, 2018) - Lucas Martinez of the Queens College men's tennis team under coach Druker's leadership was deemed the recipient of the East Coast Conference's Elite 18 Award for men's tennis on Friday (Apr. 20), receiving the accolade before the Knights' semi-final match with District of Columbia.

Martinez, a double-majoring senior in Economics and Finance, has maintained a 3.959 grade-point average to earn the honor. The ECC Elite 18 laurel is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing in each of the ECC's 18 championships.

On the court, Martinez was a stellar cog in the Knights' run to the second-seed in the ECC Tournament, as well as a top-three regional ranking for much of the year. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Martinez went 12-9 in singles play as predominantly the No. 5 starter for the Knights while also posting a 16-11 record in doubles for Queens.
