NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Dec. 8, 2018) - The Queens College men's track and field team opened its 2018 season by taking part in the Yale Season Opener meet on Saturday (Dec. 8) at Coxe Fieldhouse on the campus of Yale University.
Daniel Thomas posted a 17th-place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.70s in his first meet with the Knights, while sophomore Ryan Woody was fourth (50.55s) in the 400-meter dash. Woody was also sixth in the 800-meter run, placing a time of 2:04.73. Meanwhile, Clivensky Etienne ran a fourth-place time in the 1000-meters clocking a 2:49.22 before running the 5000-meters in a fifth-place time of 16:35.17. Noel Guzman's mile run was good enough for a top-ten time of 4:38.15 as well.
In the field events, Pavan Bhat made an immediate impact for the squad with a second-place high-jump (2.04 meters). The freshman from India was seventh in the long jump (6.49m) and fifth in the triple jump (13.13m), as well, while Andrew Saulpaugh finished in eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.91 meters. Jared Coupe rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a 12th-place hurl of 11.19 meters in the shot put.
The Knights will compete again on Jan. 12, 2019 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational in Staten Island at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex.
