Women's Tennis Beats Nationally Ranked Concordia

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The No. 21 Queens College women's tennis team topped No. 28 Concorida 6-3 in an East Regional matchup Friday afternoon.

The day began with Queens taking the No. 2 doubles match 8-3 as Frederike Börner and Andrea Samson defeated Antonia Conze and Valeriia Cheban. The Clippers responded in the No. 3 match as Linda Eliasson and Kaja Tegtmeier topped Sumeera Kamil and Line Sorsdahl Aasen 9-8 (7). The Knights took the No. 1 match 9-8 (7) as Angelika Sobiecka and Cami Abdallah were victorious over Stefanie Canals-Baker and Costanza Mecchi.

Concordia came out in singles action with a win in the No. 1 match as Mecchi took down Kamil 6-3, 6-2.  Queens then took a 6-2, 6-1 win in the third singles as Sobiecka topped Conze. The Knights then took 4th singles as Abdallah defeated Cheban 6-2, 6-2.

Canals-Baker came out on top in sixth singles 6-3, 6-3 for Concordia, before Samson earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Eliasson in second singles to clinch the win for Queens. QC concluded the day with a 6-8, 7-5, 7-6 (4) victory in fifth singles as Börner defeated Tegtmeier.
