FLUSHING, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 32 Queens College women's tennis team opened East Coast Conference Tournament play in dominant fashion, earning a 4-0 sweep to advance to Saturday's championship match.
Facing the No. 4 seed, the Knights secured the doubles point before adding three straight-set singles victories. Rookie
Ela Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia) sealed the win at No. 4 singles, lifting Queens to the shutout victory.
With the win, Queens improves to 15-4 overall on the season.
Doubles Play
The Knights gained early momentum as the No. 3 doubles team of senior
Lydia Zafeiri (Athens, Greece) and sophomore
Johanne Genestay (Dinan, France) earned a default victory.
Queens clinched the doubles point at No. 2, where juniors
Lilie Bizouerne (La Ciotat, France) and
Sixtine Goubet (Lyon, France) delivered a decisive 6-1 win over Mar Caneves Bufi and Shreethika Vangala for a 1-0 lead.
The No. 1 doubles match went unfinished.
Singles Play
Queens extended its lead to 3-0 with dominant performances from senior
Regina Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico) at No. 6 and Genestay at No. 5, both earning straight-set shutouts.
Vasic clinched the match at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sun Zhuozuan.
Matches at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 were left unfinished.

The Knights will look to defend their 2025 ECC Championship on Saturday, April 25 against No. 2 seed D'Youville. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
