FLUSHING, N.Y. - Queens College men's tennis coach, Somadi Druker came together with a group of local tennis coaches to give a presentation on how to help prepare and guide their potential collegiate student-athletes. The people present where some of the top coaches in the New York area and family members of the players. As these two parties will play a big part of the student-athletes' pathes to college, she felt it would be important to give them guidance in this area.
Some of the topics covered during the presentation were the role of the NCAA Eligibility Center as well as the recruiting procedure for prospective student-athletes. They went over the rules, regulations and requirements of the NCAA Division I and II Eligibility Center as well as the acceptance requirements to become a student of Queens College. The most important part of the presentation was the discussion on "Why the student should choose Division II?" and the many differences between all three divisions.
The presentation was a great success, all the coaches had positive feedback and learned a lot as they play a big role in helping student-athletes select the right college. It is important that coaches know what is academically required as well know the rules and regulations from the NCAA prospective. Preparing the prospective student-athlete and helping them with a successful roadmap to their future could lead to the next All-American student- athlete.
Coach Druker would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy coaching schedules to attend the presentation. It was a great season at the Queens College Tennis Center, see everyone next year!
