FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College men's tennis team picked up a tough 8-1 win over Adelphi Friday morning at the QC Tennis Center. Despite the one sided outcome, the Knights and Panthers played a number of tight contests.
QC's lone loss came in 1st doubles, where the duo of Shavrill Nawghre and Roman Laga fell 9-8 (6). In 2nd doubles, Gabriel Mendez and Lucas Martinez won 8-5, and Ryan Frankel and Federico Toscano won 3rd doubled 8-4.
In singles, Nawghre won 1st singles in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. In 2nd singles, Frankel picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win while Mendez won 3rd singles 6-4, 6-4. In fourth singles, Laga won 6-0, 6-4. In fifth singles, freshman Camilo Arias picked up a marathon three set win (6-7 (16), 7-6 (5), 12-10). Federico Toscano won 6th singles in straight sets (7-5, 6-4).
The Knights head to Caldwell Saturday for a non-conference match.
