Men's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight With 7-1 Victory Over St. Thomas Aquinas

Flushing, N.Y - The Queens College men's tennis team won its seventh straight match, a 7-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas, form the tennis courts in Flushing on Friday.  The team improved to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the East Coast Conference.

 

Queens opened play by winning all three doubles matches.  Shavil Nawghre and Gabriel Mendez won their match, 8-3.  The team of Lucas Martinez and Christopher Baron and the grouping of Federico Toscano and Ryan Franknel won their matches by identical, 8-1 socres.

 

In singles play, Baron came out ahead, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.  Frankel prevailed at third singles, 6-2, 6-1.  Martinez won 6-1, 6-0.  Toscano dropped the first set but rebounded to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.  Finally Mendez won via forfeit.

 

The Queens College tennis team closes out the regular season on Sunday, April 19, when they face ASA College at the USTA tennis center in Flushing.
