Flushing, N.Y. - On the first gorgeous dya of spring in Flushing, the Queens College men's tennis team finally played outside, but gave the fans in attendance some blues, before winning the final match in a brilliant, 5-4 victory over District of Columbia on Saturday. The team has now won five in a row.
For the first time in a while, the Knights trailed following doubles play. They were behind 2-1 as the only point came from the third doubles flight of Ryan Frankel and Federico Toscano, who prevailed 8-4.
Sharvill Nawghre won at second singles, 6-2, 6-2. Frankel prevailed at third singles, 6-4, 6-2. Toscano evened the match at 4-all with a 6-4, 6-3 win at fifth singles.
The match went into the final singles match, which went to three sets. In the end, Miguel Bendito earned the deciding point for Queens with a 6-7. 6-2, 6-3 win.
The Queens College men's tennis team improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the East Coast Conference. They return to action on Sunday, April 12, when they host Southern New Hampshire.
