Easton, Mass. - The Queens College men's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-0 shutout over Stonehill in Easton, Massachusetts on Friday. The Knights are 1-0 on the road this season.
In familiar fashion, Queens opened up doubles play by sweeping all three matches. Christopher Baron and Gabriel Mendez won at first doubles, 8-3. Sharvill Nawghre joined with Ryan Frankel to come out on top, 8-1. Finally, Lucas Martinez and Federico Toscano made is a sweep with an 8-6 triumph.
In singles play, Baron and Nawghre won in straight sets. In the most competitive match of the day, Martinez prevailed in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. Frankel remained unbeaten this season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Toscano won 6-2, 6-4. Finally, Bendito completed the sweep with an 8-5 win in one set.
The team returns to the hardcourt on Saturday when they face MIT in Cambridge. The first serve is scheduled for noon.
