Flushing, N.Y. - The match between the Queens College men's tennis team and the group from NYIT on Wednesday at the QC tennis bubble in Flushing, was a meeting of two of the top teams in the East Coast Conference. Despite winning two-out-of-three doubles matches, the Knights fell to the Bears, 6-3, and dropped to 5-2 on the season.
The second doubles team of Sharvill Nawghre and Gabriel Mendez won their match, 8-4. The third team of Lucas Martinez and Federico Toscano prevailed in a hard fought set, 9-7.
Toscano was the lone Knight to win at singles, prevailing, 6-4, 6-0. Nawghre, Martinez and Ryan Frankel each won a set before later succumbing.
The Queens College mens tennis team returns to action on Friday, March 27, when they host Chestnut Hill College. The opening serve is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
