Lakewood, N.J. - A year ago, the Knights captured their first East Coast Conference outdoor track and field championship by the narrowest of margins, on Saturday, in the 2014 ECC championship from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey, the team won the title for the second straight year, besting second-place Molloy, 186-143.
Kurt Samuel had a pair of firsts on the day, as he won the 800 with a time of 1:56.05. He also joined the relay team of Skandal Delince, Samuel, Wilfred Ruck and Donovan Stewart to win the 4X400 with a time of 3:26.60.
Tyler Bay had a pair of second-place finishes, crossing the tape in second in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:55.15. He was also second in the 10000 meter run, logging a timeof 33:33.17.
Stewart placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.57. He was also fifth in the 200, with a mark of :23.47. Delince was third in the 400 with a clocking of :52.07.
In the field events, the Knights held the top-five spots in the shot put, as Greg Gromling won the event with a throw of 15.37 meters. Vincent Fratto was second, Christopher Pensa was third, Angel Alers-Rosario placed fourth and Liam O'Connor was fifth.
The Knights were just as dominating in the discus, as they held the top five places there as well. Pensa won with a hurl of 47.60. Michael Glanz was second, O'Connor third, Alers-Rosario came in fourth and Fratto was fifth.
Queens owned the top four spots in the hammer throw as Alers-Rosario made a winning throw of 48.92 meters. Pensa was second, Gromling third and Glanz was fourth. Finally, Kerome Bramwell was second in the javelin with a throw of 42.50 meters.
