Queens Outdoor Track & Field Prepares for ECC Championships at CCSU Invite

NEW BRITAIN, CT – With the East Coast Conference Championship on the horizon, the Queens College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams wrapped up final preparations Friday at the CCSU Blue Devils Invite.

Men's Highlight

Rookie Dorian Boyd (Freeport, N.Y.) turned in a strong effort in the 400-meter dash, clocking 50.39.
 
In the 800m Run, rookie Nathanael Hansen (Queens, N.Y.) posted a time of 2:03.33 to place 17th.
 
The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Boyd, Hansen, junior Ezequiel Zapata (Bronx, N.Y.) and rookie Christian Panameno (Queens, N.Y) delivered a fourth-place finish in 3:33.64.

Women's Highlights

Senior Dhiannie Brito (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a mark of 9.51 meters in the shot put to place 12th.
 
Senior Madelyn McMath (Carmel, N.Y.) led the field events with a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw (24.94m).
 
On the track, the 4x100-meter relay team of rookie Kezia Hamilton (Jamaica, N.Y.), junior Carly Koprowski (Wantagh, N.Y.), rookie Jordyn Cruz (Holbrook, N.Y.), and rookie Celeste Minkwe Jore (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) raced to a first-place finish in 50.98.
 
Senior Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) paced the Knights in the 1500 meters with a third-place time of 5:21.21, while junior Keira Whitaker (Queens, N.Y) added a ninth-place finish (6:03.96).
 
Senior Brianna Call (Fishkill, N.Y.) posted a time of 1:06.84 in the 400 meters to place 10th.
 
In the sprints, rookie Minkwe Jore highlighted the day with a runner-up finish in the 100 meters (12.73), followed by Hamilton in fourth (12.95). Minkwe Jore also placed fourth in the 200 meters (26.31), with Hamilton close behind in 26.70.
 
In the 800 meters, Koprowski secured a second-place finish (2:17.22), with Cruz right behind in third (2:17.50).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Minkwe Jore, Koprowski, Cruz, and Call capped the meet with a third-place finish in 4:13.57.

Next Meet

Queens heads to Rochester, N.Y. for the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday, April 30 hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
