Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College men's tennis team opened its spring campaign with a 6-1 loss at the hands of Fordham on Friday from the tennis bubble in Flushing. Younes Hidass picked up the lone victory for the Knights.
Queens entered the matchup with the Rams with a perfect 3-0 mark; having defeated three Divsion I opponents in the fall in Saint Peter's, St. Francis and Rider. Fordham was the fourth-straight Division I opponent QC has faced.
In doubles, Fordham swept to earn the one point. However the combination of Hidass and Christopher Baron took their opponents to a tiebreak. Andre Pellegrino and Kevin Burgess managed to win four games as well.
In singles play, Hidass defeated the Rams' number one, Kuba Kowalski, 7-6, 5-4. Kowalski retired in the second set before it was concluded. Pellegrino also won seven games in his straight-set loss.
The Queens College men's tennis team is now 3-1n on the season. They return to action on Saturday, March 8, when they host Philadelphia University at 6:00 PM in the tennis bubble.
