Lakewood, N.J. – The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 9-0 win over the Georgian Court Lions in a match played on Tuesday in Lakewood, New Jersey. The team now faces perennial East Coast Conference power on Friday, October 17, at noon in Queens. This matchup will be a battle of unbeaten teams and will likely determine the regular-season conference champion. Both teams are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in ECC play.
Queens opened its dominance of the Lions by winning all three doubles matches. The first doubles team of Angelika Sobiecka and Cami Abdallah won 8-0. The pairing of Andrea Samson and Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako also won 8-0. The third group of Sumeera Kamil and Molly Fanelli triumphed 8-0.
The team fared just as well in singles competition. Plevako won 6-1, 6-0. Kamil came out on top, 6-3, 6-3. Sobiecka dropped just one game across two sets, taking care of business, 6-0, 6-1. The final three singles matches all ended 6-0, 6-0 for QC as Samson, Abdallah and Olivia Stauffer failed to lose a game in their events.
The team faces NYIT on Friday and then hosts LIU Post at noon on Saturday, October 18.
