Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Queens College men's
tennis team made it a perfect 3-0 for the fall season with a 7-0
blanking of Rider University from Lawrenceville, New Jersey on
Sunday. All three victories in the fall came over Division I
opponents.
The doubles play was conducted under Division I rules, which
meant that whichever side won the doubles matches, would get a
single point. The Knight splt the first two doubles matches
as the combination of Christopher Baron and Alex Morris won 8-5,
and the pairing of Amir Shapouri and Kevin Burgess made it close in
their 9-7 setback. The determing match for the point came
down to Andre Pellegrino and Adam Pizow, who won in a tiebreak, 9-8
(5).
Already ahead 1-0, the Knights swept the singles play to take
the match 7-0. Shapouri won his match, 6-1, 6-2.
Pellegrino was triumphant 6-0, 6-2. Baron won his match, 6-1,
6-0. Younes Hidass won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Morris was victorious, 6-1, 6-1 and Burgess took care of his match
7-6 (6), 6-0.
The team concluded its fall season with a perfect 3-0 mark. The
open spring play in February against another Division I opponent,
the Fordham Rams.
