Queens, N.Y. - The Queens College men's tennis team made it two
straight victories in the 2013-14 season when they defeated St.
Francis, 7-2, on Saturday from the tennis courts in Flushing.
The team is now 2-0 on the season, with both wins coming over
Division I opponents (St. Peter's and the Terriers).
It was doubles play that once again set the tone for the Knights
as the team was a perfect 3-0 in their matches. The team of
Younes Hidass and Christopher Baron opened play with an 8-5
victory. Amir Shapouri and Alexander Morris were the next
team to be victorious, 8-3. Finally the combination of Andre
Pellegrino and Adam Pizow were triumphant, 8-2.
Singles play saw the Knights get four wins in six matches.
Baron won his match in second postion, 7-5, 5-7, 10-7.
Morris was victorious in fourth singles, 6-1 and 6-1.
Shapouri didn't drop a game en route to winning, 6-0, 6-0.
Kevin Burgess, who competed in sixth singles, won his match,
6-1, 6-0.
The QC men's tennis team closes out its fall schedule on Sunday,
October 6, when they travel to New Jersey to face Rider. The
first serve in that match is slated for noon.
