FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's tennis team, ranked No. 25 nationally in the latest Campbell/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Poll, kicked off the East Coast Conference portion of its schedule Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 shutout versus visiting New York Institute of Technology. Nine players from the host Knights took to the court in all in the triumph.

Once again, the pace was set by the Knights' (11-4, 1-0 ECC) 3-0 sweep in the doubles matches, including an 8-love sweep at the No. 3 flight by Diego Medrano and David Burstein versus Kushtrim Bejtullahu and Andrew Cohen. Atilla Toth and Nikolaj Wulff knocked off Julian Marcom and Vojislav Pecikoza by an 8-3 score at No. 1, while Fabio Minami and Andre Pellegrino paired up to improve to 6-2 on the season as a tandem with their 8-1 drubbing of NYIT's (1-4, 0-2 ECC) Filip Van Eylen and Kevin Natividad.

Nationally-ranked Toth led the way in singles action at the No. 1 flight, as he scored a 6-3, 7-5 win over Van Eylen. Wulff had little trouble with Marcom (6-2, 6-love) in the No. 2 slot, while Minami defeated Pecikoza 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 3.
