Box Score

FLUSHING, N.Y. – A quartet of Queens College men's tennis players knocked off regionally ranked standouts from visiting Concordia College on Monday afternoon, including a national top-10 upset by the host Knights' Atilla Toth, but it was not enough, as the Clippers, ranked No. 3 in the Campbell's/ITA Division II Poll, took out the 26th-ranked QC squad by a narrow 5-4 margin.

Concordia (19-2) ultimately took control of the match with a trio of wins in doubles play. But Queens (15-5) scored a quartet of victories in singles match to get within striking distance, but could not move in front. Toth, ranked No. 29 nationally, third in the region and named the East Coast Conference's Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, toppled the region's top player and 10th-ranked Andrey Boldarev, 6-4 and 6-love. Nikolaj Wulff bested regional sixth-ranked Geza Bazula by a love-6, 6-3, 10-2 decision at the No. 2 slot, while Diego Medrano (15th) took down David Tisserand (fourth), 7-5 and 6-1 in another battle between regionally-ranked competition at the No. 3 flight. Andre Pellegrino rounded out the Queens singles victors at the No. 6 flight, toppling regional seventh-ranked Felix Missal, 7-5 and 6-3.

Head coach Craig Schwartz's Queens side will now focus its attention on the East Coast Conference Championships, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Alley Pond Tennis Center in Queens Village, N.Y.
