PHILADELPHIA, PA – Concluding their Philadelphia roadstand, the Queens College women's tennis team faced Chestnut Hill College Griffins in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play Wednesday afternoon at the Chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts.
The Knights opened the afternoon by claiming the doubles point before winning five of six singles matches to defeat the Griffins, 6-1. Rookie
Vilte Vaitkeviciute clinched the match at No. 6 singles.
With the victory, Queens improves to 6-1 overall and 6-1 in CACC play.

Queens wasted no time taking the lead in doubles play as the No. 2 sophomore tandem of
Johanne Genestay and
Ela Vasic posted a 6-0 victory over Veronika Lundgren and Fabienne Lahn.
The Knights clinched the doubles point at No. 3 as the rookie duo of
Elise Bosmans and Vaitkeviciute defeated Tia Kaukenas and Milica Zagorac, 6-1.
The Griffins avoided the doubles sweep at No. 1 as the senior pair of
Lilie Bizouerne and
Sixtine Goubet fell to Elena Guisasola and Lilian Bandel, 6-4.
Singles Recap
Leading 1-0, Goubet quickly extended the Knights' lead to 2-0 at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Zagorac.
Vasic gave Queens a commanding 3-0 lead at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Lundgren.
Vaitkeviciute clinched the match at No. 6, earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Lahn.
Bizouerne extended the Knights' lead to 5-0 at No. 3 with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Guisasola.
At No. 5, sophomore
Anishka Amalnathan fell to Kaukenas, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, in a hard-fought battle as the Griffins avoided the sweep.
Genestay completed the scoring at No. 4, defeating Bandel, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, as the Knights secured the 6-1 victory.
Next Match
Queens concludes the week Friday, Sept. 25, returning home to welcome Chestnut Hill to Flushing. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
