SPARKILL, N.Y. – Opening a two-match roadstand to begin their three-match week, the Queens College women's tennis team faced St. Thomas Aquinas College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play Tuesday afternoon at the Riley Family Tennis Courts.
The Knights swept all nine courts en route to a 7-0 victory over the Spartans, with rookie
Elise Bosmans clinching the match at No. 4 singles.
With the victory, Queens improves to 5-1 overall and 5-1 in CACC play.
Doubles Recap
With the Spartans unable to field a No. 3 doubles pair, the rookie duo of Bosmans and
Vilte Vaitkeviciute earned a default victory.
Queens clinched the doubles point at No. 2 as the sophomore pair of
Johanne Genestay and
Ela Vasic posted a 6-0 victory over Shreethika Vangala and Nina Victoria Derkac.
The Knights completed the doubles sweep at No. 1 as
Lilie Bizouerne and
Sixtine Goubet defeated Lily Amelia and Emma Huber, 6-3.
Singles Recap
Vasic put Queens ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Vangala at No. 1 singles.
Bizouerne extended the Knights' lead to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Huber at No. 2.
Bosmans clinched the match at No. 4 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Derkac.
Rookie
Seren Forsyth turned in a successful collegiate debut at No. 6, recording a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Blucher.
Graduate student
Allycia Santa-Cruz completed the sweep at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Matz as Queens earned its fifth overall victory of the season.
Next Match
Queens concludes its roadstand Wednesday, Sept. 23, traveling to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Chestnut Hill College Griffins. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
