FLUSHING, N.Y. – Continuing Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, the Queens College women's tennis team welcomed the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds to town Saturday afternoon.
The Knights swept all nine courts en route to a 7-0 victory.
With the victory, Queens improves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in CACC play.
Doubles Recap
The Knights opened doubles play as the No. 2 senior duo of
Lilie Bizouerne and
Sixtine Goubet earned a 6-0 victory over Mina Randjelovic and Sofiia Shaparenko.
Queens clinched the doubles point at No. 3 as the duo of junior
Johanne Genestay and sophomore
Anishka Amalnathan secured a 6-1 victory over Iva Janketic and Nadja Zmukic.
The Knights completed the doubles sweep as the No. 1 pairing of sophomore
Ela Vasic and rookie
Vilte Vaitkeviciute earned a 6-2 victory over Polina Zelentsova and Yelyzaveta Sylka, giving the home side a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles Recap
Bizouerne opened singles play with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sylka at No. 3 singles to put Queens ahead 2-0.
Vasic extended the Knights' lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Randjelovic at No. 2 singles.
Amalnathan clinched the victory at No. 4 singles, defeating Shaparenko, 6-4, 6-3.
Having already clinched the team victory, Goubet continued the sweep with a thrilling comeback victory over Zelentsova at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) victory.
Genestay put the Knights up 6-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Janketic at No. 5 singles before rookie Vaitkeviciute completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Zmukic at No. 6 singles.

Queens hits the road Tuesday, Sept. 15, traveling to Waterbury, Conn., for a conference tilt against the Post University Eagles. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
