FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams returned to action on Friday, hosting the QC Knights Invitational on the campus of Queens College at the Varsity Track.
Men's Highlight
On the track, junior
Daniel DeGregori (East Meadow, N.Y.) delivered a standout performance in the 1500m run, winning the event with a season-best time of 4:12.49, while
Christian Panameno (Queens, N.Y) placed third with a time of 4:29.90.
Rookie
Dorian Boyd (Freeport, N.Y.) posted a strong outing in the 400m dash, placing fourth with a time of 50.71.
In the 800m run, rookie
Nathanael Hansen (Queens, N.Y.) earned a second-place finish with a career-best time of 2:01.56, while Panameno placed fourth in a career-best 2:10.07.
In the 5000m Run, junior
Nickolas Pirovolikos (Astoria, N.Y.) recorded a time of 16:58.94 to place third, and sophomore
Robert Palacios (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) notched a time of 19:41.84 to place eighth.
In the field events, senior
Jalen George (Baldwin, N.Y.) won the shot put with a mark of 12.85m. Boyd added a fifth-place finish in the long jump (5.96m) and placed second in the triple jump (12.64m).
Sophomore
Lurtim Mehmedi placed sixth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.55m.
Women's Highlights
In the 3000m Run, junior
Keira Whitaker (Queens, N.Y) earned a second-place finish with a time of 12:44.11.
In the 1500m Run, rookie
Jenna Cruz (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed first with a time of 5:23.72 and senior
Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) placed second with a time of 5:41.73.
In the 100m Dash, rookie
Kezia Hamilton (Jamaica, N.Y.) placed seventh in both the 100m dash (13.80) and 200m dash (27.89).
Junior
Carly Koprowski (Wantagh, N.Y) finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 59.01 and placed fifth in the 200m dash in 27.51.
While senior
Jennifer Salazar (College Point, N.Y.) recorded a time of 1:01.31 to place seventh and senior
Brianna Call (Fishkill, N.Y.) placed eighth with a time of 1:09.46.
Rookie
Jordyn Cruz (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed first in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:09.87.
In the field events, senior
Dhiannie Brito (East Meadow, N.Y.) placed fifth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 9.07m.
The 4x400m Relay team of Koprowski, Jordyn, rookie
Celeste Minkwe Jore (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and Jenna closed the meet with a first-place finish in 4:24.84.
Next Meet
The Knights return to action on Friday, April 24, when they travel to New Britain, Conn. to compete in the CCSU Blue Devil Invite.
