COLONIA, N.J. – In the first East Coast Conference men's soccer weekly report sheet released Monday afternoon, three Queens College men's soccer student-athletes were honored. Rookie defender
Carlos Villa (Medellin, Colombia) earned Rookie of the Week honors, while the duo of senior forward
Harry Cooke (Market Drayton, England) and
Miguel Soto Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) were named as Prime Performers.
Rookie of the Week
In a 1-0-1 week for the Knights, Villa made an immediate impact in his debut, scoring his first career goal and the game-winner in a dominant 6-0 shutout over Holy Family. The Colombian native also played a crucial role in a stingy defensive effort that held the Tigers to just five shots and zero shots on goal. Villa continued his strong play Saturday night, helping the Knights secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Saint Anselm.
Prime Performers
Soto Gonzalez matched a team-high six points, registering two goals and two assists. Soto Gonzalez opened the season strong, recording four points (1 goal, 2 assists) in Thursday's 6-0 win over Holy Family. He followed that performance with his second goal of the year in Saturday night's 1-1 draw against Saint Anselm.
Cooke picked up right where he left off in 2024, recording his fourth career hat trick in a dominant 6-0 win over Holy Family. Cooke opened his goal count in the first half and completed the hattrick with a second-half brace, leading the Knights to their first win of the season.
NEXT MATCH
The homestand concludes on Wednesday, September 10, as the Knights welcome the Chargers of Dominican University of New York to Knights Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
