Men’s Soccer Releases 2025 Slate

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Entering his eighth season in charge of the Queens College men's soccer program, head coach Frank Vertullo has announced the 2025 regular season slate Friday afternoon.
 
In 2024 Vertullo and the Knights put together another spectacular season as they posted an 11-5-2 overall record, 7-0-1 East Coast Conference record en route to winning their first-ever ECC regular season championship in program history and earned the number 1 seed. For the third straight season Vertullo and his squad posted 10 wins or more.
 
The defending ECC regular season champions Knights have lined up a full slate of 18 matches for the 2025 regular season. The 18 matches (eight ECC contests) will see the Knights host 10 matches in Flushing to go with eight matches around the east region. Last season the Knights posted an impressive 8-3-1 record in Flushing and a 3-2-1 record on the road.
 
The 10 non-conference matches will see Queens match up against one Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe, four Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) opponents, and five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foes.
 
Of the 18 matches, Vertullo and the Knights will tangle with 10 teams that competed in postseason play in their respective conferences, including three defending conference champions who clinched a NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament spot, including one team that advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals round in 2024.
 
Opening the season on friendly ground, the Knights will host three straight home non-conference matches beginning on Thursday, Sept. 4 as they welcome CACC member Tigers of Holy Family University to town. The Tigers posted a record of 6-9-3 in 2024.
 
Following the contest against the Tigers, NE10 member Hawks of Saint Anselm College visit Flushing on Saturday, Sept. 6 who compiled a record of 3-9-4 in 2024.
 
The homestand concludes on Wednesday, Sept. 10 as Queens hosts CACC member Dominican University of New York Chargers who concluded the 2024 season with a record of 2-13-1.
 
A two-match road stand opens on Saturday, Sept. 13 as the Knights visit Hooksett, N.H. for an evening showdown against defending NE10 champions Southern New Hampshire University Penmen. Along with the conference crown, the Penmen advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA MSOC Tournament as they finished the year with an overall record of 14-2-3.
 
The quick road stand will conclude in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 as Queens match up against the Setters of Pace University. Pace University returns to NCAA DII play for the first time since the 1990 season when they were part of the ECC.
 
A second three-match homestand opens beginning with the ECC opener on Saturday, Sept. 20 as the Saints of D'Youville University come to town. The Saints are coming off a 2024 season where they went 5-8-4 and made the ECC postseason tournament by earning the #4 seed.
 
Following the ECC matchup, Vertullo and the Knights return to non-conference play with a key contest against PSAC member East Stroudsburg University Warriors on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The Warriors posted a record of 8-4-5 in 2024.
 
The homestand concludes on Saturday, Sept. 27 as the Knights host Mercy University Mavericks in ECC play. The Mavericks concluded the 2024 season with a record of 9-3-5 and advanced to the ECC semifinal by earning the #2 seed.
 
Hitting the road for two ECC matches, the Knights begin their trip on Wednesday, Oct. 1 in the nation's capital against defending ECC Champions Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia. The Firebirds won their first ECC crown in program history as the #6 seed and advanced to the First Round of the NCAA MSOC Tournament as they concluded the year with an overall record of 8-8-4.
 
The ECC road trip concludes in Amherst, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 4 as Queens matches up against Daemen University Wildcats. The Wildcats posted a record of 3-10-2 in 2024.
 
Returning to Flushing, Vertullo and the Knights match up against former ECC foe and now CACC member the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in non-conference play. The Purple Knights concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 7-8-3 and advanced to the CACC Quarterfinals.
 
The homestand concludes on Saturday, Oct. 11 as Queens welcomes the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans for an ECC showdown. In 2024 the Spartans posted a record of 6-8-3.
 
A season-high four-match road stand opens on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as the Knights head to Garden City, N.Y. for a non-conference contest against the Panthers of Adelphi University. The Panthers posted a record of 9-6-4 and advanced to the NE10 semifinals in 2024.
 
Queens will conclude the week in Staten Island, N.Y. as they match up against the Dolphins of College of Staten Island in ECC play on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Dolphins posted a record of 2-12-1 in 2024.
 
The Knights will then travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in a rematch of last year's ECC semifinal match against the Lions of Molloy University. The Lions concluded the season with an overall record of 8-8-4 and advanced to the ECC final as the #5 seed.
 
The road trip concludes in Caldwell, N.J. on Saturday, Oct. 25 as Queens match up against CACC member Caldwell University Cougars. The Cougars posted a record of 8-6-3 and earned a trip to the CACC Quarterfinals.
 
Vertullo and the Knights conclude the regular season with back-to-back home matches beginning with their final non-conference match of the year as they host defending CACC champions Felician University Golden Falcons on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The Golden Falcons are coming off of posting an overall record of 17-4-3 and advanced to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA MSOC Tournament.
 
Queens concludes the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 as they host Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks in ECC play. In 2024 the Redhawks concluded the year with an overall record of 9-7-3 and earned the #3 seed to the ECC postseason tournament.

East Coast Conference Postseason Tournament

The top six teams in the conference standings will advance to the ECC Men's Soccer Tournament. The First Round matches will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with the #3 and #4 seeds playing host to #5 and #6 seed, Semifinal matches on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the site of #1 and #2 seed and Final to be played on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the site of the highest seed remaining.
