Women’s Volleyball White and Angelova Claim ECC Weekly Top Honors

COLONIA, N.J. – In the third East Coast Conference women's volleyball weekly report sheet released Monday afternoon, Queens College women's volleyball rookie setter Kylynn White (Chicago, IL) earned her first Player of the Week honors, while senior middle blocker Maya Angelova (Kyustendil, Bulgaria) was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 

Player of the Week

In a 3-1 week for the Knights, White led the team with 43 kills, 57 assists, 31 digs, 15 service aces, and seven points, including her second career triple-double. She opened the week with nine kills, 18 assists, eight digs, and tied a career-best six service aces in the 3-1 win over Caldwell. In a five-set victory against Georgian Court, White notched a triple-double with 18 kills on a .341 hitting percentage, 12 assists, 12 digs, and again tied her career-best six service aces for the third straight match. To close the ESU Tournament on Saturday, she added 16 kills, 27 assists, three aces, 11 digs, and three blocks against East Stroudsburg and Southern New Hampshire.

Defensive Player of the Week

 
In a 3-1 week for the Knights, Angelova recorded 24 kills on a .327 hitting percentage, along with 16 blocks. She contributed nine kills and two blocks in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Caldwell. In a hard-fought 3-2 win against Georgian Court to open the ESU Tournament, Angelova added six kills on a .364 hitting percentage and led the team with six blocks. On Saturday, she helped secure a 3-1 comeback victory over Southern New Hampshire with seven kills on .333 hitting and five blocks.

Next Match

The Knights return home for a quick stop at home on Wednesday, September 24, as they welcome defending NE10 Champions American International College Yellow Jackets to Fitzgerald Gymnasium in non-conference action. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
