COLONIA, N.J. – In the second East Coast Conference men's soccer weekly report sheet released Monday afternoon, two Queens College men's soccer student-athletes were honored. Redshirt-sophomore goalie
Thanasis Shehadeh (Nicosia, Cyprus) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while freshman forward
Bradyn Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
For the second straight week, the Knights have earned back-to-back Rookie of the Week honors with rookie defender
Carlos Villa (Medellin, Colombia) earning the top honors in the first weekly sheet.
Defensive Player of the Week
In a 1-1 week for the Knights, Shehadeh recorded eight saves and his second shutout of the year. In the 4-0 victory over Dominican on Wednesday evening, Shehadeh notched three saves as he faced four shots on goal. On Saturday, facing off against No. 6 nationally ranked SNHU, the Cyprus native recorded a season-high eight saves, helping keep the Knights in a tightly contested match.
Rookie of the Week
Brown recorded his first career goal in the 4-0 victory over Dominican on Wednesday evening.
NEXT MATCH
The road stand wraps up on Wednesday, Sept. 17, as the Knights travel to Pleasantville, N.Y., for a non-conference tilt against the Setters of Pace University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
