STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Queens College women's tennis team went cross-divisional Saturday afternoon as they matched up against Stony Brook University Seawolves at The Stony Brook School.
Facing division I competition, the Knights would earn a doubles victory and two singles victories but it would be the home side that earned a 5-2 victory over Queens.
The Knights move to 9-4 on the year with two matches in the regular season.
DOUBLES ACTION
In doubles play, the #2 pair of graduate student
Eva Rivoal (Saint-Denis-de-Pile, France) and junior
Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) defeated Mia Palladino and Kristi Boro to the score of 6-1.
However, the Seawolves would earn doubles victories at courts #1 and #3 to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
SINGLES ACTION
In singles play Lamy would earn a three-set victory over Lorin Tilipma to the score of 1-6, 7-5, 10-7, while senior
Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden) earned a three-set victory over Cornelia Syversen to the score of 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 as Queens earned two points on the day.
But the Seawolves would take singles courts #1, #3, #5, and #6 to defeat the Knights to the final score of 5-2.
NEXT MATCH
The Knights return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 23 as they welcome Dominican University of New York Chargers to town. The first serve is set for noon.
