GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Concluding the week in Garden City, N.Y. in non-conference play, the Queens College men's tennis team matched up against the Panthers of Adelphi University for the second time this year.
The Knights fell behind 3-0 as they dropped the doubles point before dropping the singles action at courts #1 and #2 before Queens put together a rally by winning matches at #3-#5 courts. Down to the final match at court #6, it would be a tough loss as the Knights fell short of a thrilling comeback victory to the final score of 4-3 Saturday afternoon.
Queens moves to 7-4 on the year and earns a split with the Panthers with both sides defending home court.
DOUBLES PLAY
The Knights would be swept in double action as the #1 pair of junior
Alexis Martin-Gibiard (Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France) and rookie
Adam Laur (Boulogne Billancourt, France) fell 6-0 against Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso.
The #2 duo of sophomore
Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) and junior
Viktor Ek Johansson (Stockholm, Sweden) fell 6-4 against Marko Jovanovic and Rodrigo Ochoa.
The Panthers completed the sweep as the Knights #3 pair of junior
Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) and rookie
Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) fell to the score of 6-4 against Andrea Albiero and Louca Bertone.
SINGLES PLAY
The Knights would trail the match 3-0 as junior
Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) fell 6-4, 6-2 against Jovanovic at #1 court and Andersson fell short of forcing a third set against Louca Bertone at #2 court to the score of 6-4, 7-6
(7-5).
Trailing 3-0, Queens would together a rally as Ek Johansson earned a three-set comeback over Reinoso at #3 court to the score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Martin-Gibiard would get the Knights within 3-2 as he earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Andrea Albiero at #4 court before Laur defeated Spyridon Papageorgiou to the score of 6-2, 6-2 at #5 court as Queens had tied the match at 3-3.
With the match tied at 3-3, attention shifted to the final match of the afternoon between rookie
Pablo Serrano (Cochabamba, Bolivia) against Ochoa at #6 court. Serrano would win the first set to the score of 6-3 before Ochoa rallied to the victory in the final two sets to the score of 6-2, 6-3 as the Knights fell in a hard-fought match to the final score of 4-3.

Somadi Druker and the Knights continue non-conference play as they match up against DI foe St. John's University Red Storm on Wednesday, Apr. 2 in the Bronx. Time is to be determined.
