Indoor Season Underway as Queens Competes at Fastrack Season Opener

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Queens College men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened their 2024–25 campaigns on Friday afternoon at the Fastrack Season Opener, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Complex.

Women's Highlights

  • Senior Rachel Mow began the season with a ninth-place finish in the mile, running 5:39.52, before adding an 11:21.50 performance in the 3000m run.
  • Junior Carly Koprowski earned the top Division II finish in the 400m dash, placing third overall in 59.06, while senior Jennifer Salazar completed the event in 1:12.07.
  • Freshman Jordyn Cruz delivered an impressive debut in the 800m run, finishing second overall and first among Division II competitors with a time of 2:21.88. Koprowski also competed in the 800m and placed third in 2:27.21, while senior Brianna Call recorded a time of 2:42.71 in her debut.
  • In the 200m dash, freshmen Celeste Minkwe Jore and Kezia Hamilton posted times of 26.66 and 28.25, respectively. Hamilton also recorded a long jump mark of 4.25m.
  • In the throws, junior Dhiannie Brito tallied 9.85m in the shot put and 8.06m in the weight throw, while senior Madelyn McMath added a shot put mark of 9.07m.

Men's Highlights

  • Junior Nickolas Pirovolikos led the Knights in the mile with a time of 5:00.09, followed by sophomore Mateo Serringer in 5:02.64 and sophomore Robert Palacios in 5:23.66.
  • In the 60m dash, junior Jason Udo made his debut in 7.54, while sophomore Lurtim Mehmedi ran 7.90 before clocking 25.30 in the 200m.
  • Freshman Dorian Boyd impressed in his first collegiate 400m, placing ninth with a time of 51.44, and later added a 23.97 performance in the 200m dash.
  • In the 800m run, freshman Nathanael Hansen placed 12th in 2:00.72, followed by junior Edward Samoleski at 2:09.57, freshman Christian Panameno at 2:16.46, and Palacios, who recorded a time of 11:01.12.
  • Senior thrower Jalen George opened his season with marks of 12.79m in the shot put and 14.33m in the weight throw.
  • In the 3000m run, junior Daniel DeGregori posted a strong early-season time of 9:16.53, with Pirovolikos finishing in 10:01.08.
  • Junior David Earl Boyd earned a mark of 5.57m in the Long Jump.

NEXT MEET:

Queens returns to the Ocean Breeze Complex on Friday, December 12, for the 2025 Seahawk Shootout. The first event is scheduled to begin at noon.
