BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Closing out the 2025 calendar year, the Queens College men's basketball team traveled to Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights.
Senior forward
Tahj-Malik Campbell (Philadelphia, PA) led the Knights with his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guards
Johnny Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Dontae Prescott (Coney Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
In a tale of two halves, the Knights led by seven at the break before Bridgeport surged in the second half, outscoring the Knights 57–36 in an 83–69 decision.
GAME RECAP
Behind eight early points from Jones, Queens jumped out to a 12–0 lead by the 16:30 mark, forcing an early Bridgeport timeout.
The Purple Knights responded to cut the deficit to 14–9 at the 14:35 mark, but Jones connected on his third three-pointer to push the Knights back in front, 17–5, with 14:00 remaining in the half.
As Queens cooled off from the field, free-throw shooting helped maintain a double-digit cushion.
Campbell's layup at the 4:42 mark gave the Knights a 31–17 advantage before Bridgeport closed the half on a 9–2 run. Queens carried a 33–26 lead into halftime.
Bridgeport opened the second half with a 17–5 run to take a 43–38 lead at the 16:09 mark, prompting a Queens timeout.
Campbell ended the drought with a layup at 15:32, but another 5–0 spurt by the Purple Knights extended the lead to 48–40 with 14:16 to play.
Queens responded with an 8–0 run to knot the game at 48–48 with 12:45 remaining. Bridgeport answered once again, using a 7–0 run to reclaim the lead, 55–48, at the 10:58 mark.
The junior duo of forward
Ahmad Galimore (Bronx, N.Y.) and guard
David Teele (Harlem, N.Y.) traded baskets for Queens as the Knights trimmed the deficit to three, 59–56, with 8:04 left.
However, with Bridgeport shooting over 60 percent in the second half, a decisive 13–0 run from 7:43 to 5:04 built a 16-point cushion that the Purple Knights would not relinquish, sealing the 83–69 result.

- Campbell recorded his fifth double-double with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds, adding a career-best four steals, one block, and one assist.
- Jones tied a season high with 15 points, along with three rebounds, one steal, and one block.
- Prescott finished with 12 points, a career-best seven rebounds, three steals, two assists, and one block.
- Teele and Galimore combined for 14 points, three rebounds, one steal, one block, and one assist.
