FLUSHING, N.Y. – Opening a two-match homestand, the Queens College women's tennis team welcomed the Greyhounds of Assumption University inside the QC Indoor Tennis Bubble.
The Knights battled back to earn the doubles point and went on to sweep all six singles courts, securing a dominant 7-0 victory.
With the win, Queens improves to 2-0 overall on the season.
Doubles Play
Queens fell behind early as the #1 duo of senior Marie Bertran (Villelaure, France) and sophomore Johanne Genestay (Dinan, France) dropped a 1-6 decision to Darja Trinerova and Laurence Bosmans.
The Knights evened the score at #2 doubles, where juniors Lilie Bizouerne (La Ciotat, France) and Sixtine Goubet (Lyon, France) earned a solid 6–4 win over Marian Aguirre and Madison Ericson.
The doubles point was clinched by the #3 senior pairing of Kayla Taszymowicz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Regina Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico), who defeated Mia Monje and Madison Forton, 6-4, to give Queens a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles Play
Freshman Ela Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia) extended the lead to 2-0 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Aguirre at the #5 court.
Goubet followed with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Knispel at the #1 court, securing Queens' third point of the afternoon.
Bertran sealed the team victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Bosmans on the #3 court.
Looking to complete the sweep, Ruiz earned her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over E. De Oliveira Vilor at the #4 court.
Taszymowicz added Queens' sixth point with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ericson at #6 singles.
Bizouerne capped off the afternoon with a comeback win over Trinerova, rallying for a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) victory at the #2 spot to complete the 7-0 sweep.

The Knights will conclude their homestand on Friday, October 24, when they welcome the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds for an East Coast Conference matchup. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m.
