Women's Tennis Opens Buffalo Road Trip with 7-0 ECC Victory over D’Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Opening a two-match road trip to close out the fall semester, the Queens College women's tennis team faced the Saints of D'Youville University in East Coast Conference action at Southtowns Tennis Center.
 
The Knights dominated, sweeping both doubles and singles competition to secure a 7-0 victory over the Saints.
 
With the win, Queens improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in ECC play.

Doubles Play

The Knights' #3 senior doubles duo of Regina Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico) and Kayla Taszymowicz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) opened the evening with a 6-0 victory over Erika Ismailova and Maria Victoria Campisi.
 
Queens would secure the doubles point as the #2 pair of juniors Lilie Bizouerne (La Ciotat, France) and Sixtine Goubet (Lyon, France) earned a 6-0 win over Mina Randjelovic and Miranda Bosch.
 
The Knights completed the doubles sweep when the #1 duo of senior Marie Bertran (Villelaure, France) and freshman Ela Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia) edged Munisa Ashurbekova and Nele Herst, 7-5.

Singles Play

Leading 1-0 from doubles, Bizouerne extended Queens' advantage to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Herbst at the #2 court.
 
Bertran gave the Knights a commanding 3-0 lead with a two-set victory of 6-3, 6-4 over Randjelovic at the #3 court.
 
At the #1 court, Goubet clinched the match for Queens, rallying from a first-set loss to defeat Ashurbekova 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Ruiz secured the Knights' fifth point of the evening with a three-set comeback over Ismailova, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, at the #4 court.
 
Vasic added the sixth point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Bosch at the #5 court.
 
Taszymowicz completed the sweep at the #6 court, defeating Campisi 6-0, 6-1, as Queens improved to 3-0 in ECC play.

Next Match:

The Knights will conclude their fall season on Sunday, October 26, when they face the Daemen University Wildcats at Miller Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
