Women’s Volleyball Opens Four-Match Homestand Tuesday Evening

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Opening a four-match homestand Tuesday evening, the Queens College women's volleyball team welcomed the Lions of Molloy University to Fitzgerald Gymnasium in East Coast Conference play.

The duo of senior outside hitter Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) and rookie setter Kylynn White (Chicago, IL) led the Knights' offense, combining for 22 kills. However, in a tightly contested match featuring 21 ties and eight lead changes, Queens ultimately fell in straight sets to the visiting Molloy Lions.

Match Recap: Queens: 0, Molloy 3 (Set Scores: 23-25, 19-25, 13-25)

The Knights took an early 10-7 lead in the opening set, with Conrad and White combining for five early kills. However, Molloy responded with a 3-0 run to even the score at 10-10.

In a tightly contested set that featured 12 ties and five lead changes, both teams continued to trade points. With the Lions holding a narrow 16-15 edge, Queens answered with a 4-0 run to reclaim the lead at 19-16. Molloy countered once again, using a 5-0 run to surge ahead 21-19.

Senior middle blocker Lindsay Osterhoudt (Orlando, Fla) tallied back-to-back kills to help the Knights pull even at 21-21. However, Molloy closed the set on a 4-2 spurt to take the first frame, 25-23, and a 1-0 match lead.

In the second set, the Knights fell behind 7-4, but two kills from White and a pair of Molloy errors helped trim the deficit to 9-7. While the Lions continued to extend their lead, Queens remained within striking distance, with Conrad adding four more kills in the frame.

A 4-0 Molloy run, however, widened the gap to 20-13, and the visitors closed out the set 25-19 to go ahead 2-0 in the match.

Queens briefly held a 7-6 lead in the third set after responding to an early 4-3 Molloy advantage with a 4-2 run.

But as the Lions' offense found its rhythm, attacking errors began to hinder the Knights' momentum. Molloy capitalized on the miscues and pulled away for a 25-13 third-set win to complete the sweep.
