WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced the 2023-2024 Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners, and Men's Tennis senior Roni Rikkonen (Tampere, Finland) was named ECC Men's Tennis winner.

Rikkonen excelled on the tennis court as he concluded his collegiate tennis career with one of the best years produced by a Queens College men's tennis student-athlete. Over the course of the year, Rikkonen began the year by winning the ITA East Region Singles Championship in the Fall before an excellent Spring semester saw him be named ECC Player of the Year, and earn ECC All-Conference Selection to finish the year ranked first in the ITA East Region Singles Rankings.

The Finland native helped the team win the ECC Regular Season Championship crown, the ECC Men's Tennis Championship crown, the inaugural CACCxECC Title, and a trip to the NCAA Men's Tennis Round of 16 in Florida.

In the classroom, the senior excelled with a GPA of 3.53 and is the second straight year a Knight has been named ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year following Mortiz Borges in 2023.
