ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL. – The 2023-2024 Queens College women's tennis team season officially came to a close in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship Finals Monday afternoon.
Having advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since the 2018-19 season, the Knights were awarded the #12 seed and matched up against #5 seed Midwestern State University-Texas Mustangs with a spot to the Quarterfinals on the line at Sanlando Park.
But the dream for a Quarterfinal trip will have to wait another season the Knights were defeated to the final score of 5-0.

Alan Nagel and the Knights conclude the season with an overall record of 14-5.
DOUBLES PLAY
Matching up against a tough Midwestern State team, the Knights would fall short in doubles play with the #1 doubles action featuring a battle between two ranked pairs. The Knights pair of senior
Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) and junior
Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden) ranked #46 would fall to #21 ranked Jessica Binzari and Anda Ghinga to the score of 6-0.
The Mustangs would clinch the doubles points as the #3 doubles pair of senior
Ana Tarbujaru (Valcea, Romania) and graduate student
Kyra Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) fell to Sarah Mazaraki and Sydney Williams to the score of 6-1.
The #2 doubles action between graduate student
Eva Rivoal (Saint Denis de Pile, France) and sophomore
Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) against Sofia Giraldo and Hannah Yip went unfinished.
SINGLES PLAY
There would be no luck in singles play as Rivoal fell first to the score of 1-6, 0-6 against Binzari, the #14 ranked player in the country.
Junior
Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) would battle against #41 Yip at #3 singles but Hany-Fawzy would fall in straight sets to the final score of 3-6, 1-6.
At no. 2 singles, Makal matched up against #31 Ghinga, while Berggren matched up against Minns at no. 5 singles.
Both matches would finish at the same time with Makal falling 2-6, 1-6, while Berggren fell 2-6, 0-6 as the Mustangs advanced to the Quarterfinals Round.
Lamp at #4 singles would be the lone Knight to earn a set victory as she forced the third set with a 6-1 second set victory.
