FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Wednesday afternoon the Queens College women's tennis team welcomed Division I member Fordham University Rams to Flushing for an out-of-division match-up.
In a tough match, four of the six singles matches would go the distance as the Knights looked to upset the Rams but the lone victory of the afternoon would come at #3 doubles court with the duo of junior
Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) & senior
Ana Tarbujaru (Valcea, Romania) defeating Anlin Xie and Eleni Fasoula to the score of 6-1.
In singles action, graduate student
Eva Rivoal (Saint Denis de Pile, France) and senior
Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) would fall in straight sets at #1 and #2 courts.
At #3 singles Fawzy would take Franny Shea to three sets as the junior battled before falling to score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
While #4 singles sophomore
Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) took Julianne Nguyen in another three-set battle to the score of 5-7, 6-3, 4-6.
At #5 singles junior
Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden) matched up against Demi Jhaveri but would fall in three sets to the score of 2-6, 6-3, 2-6.
Lastly at #6 singles graduate student
Kyra Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) matched up against Lorraine Bergmann and would take the match into a third set tiebreaker to decide the match before ultimately falling short to the score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-7
(3-7).

The Knights welcome the Rams of Jefferson University on Friday (Mar. 22) afternoon in a crucial East Regional matchup. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m.
