FLUSHING, N.Y. – With the conclusion of Fall sports, the 2024 fall season would be one for the record book in Queens College Athletics history.
The 2024 fall season which comprises of six sports
(Men's Cross Country, Men's Soccer, Women's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Women's Tennis, & Women's Volleyball) all put together an excellent season.
Of the four sports eligible for East Coast Conference postseason play MSOC, WSOC, WTEN, and WVB would all make their respective postseason tournament for the second straight season.
Fall Recap
During the regular season, three programs in Men's Soccer, Women's Tennis, and Women's Volleyball would win the ECC Regular Season Championships.
Women's tennis head coach
Alan Nagel and his squad won the program's 18
th ECC Regular Season title, the most in Queens College and ECC history, and earned the #1 seed to the ECC postseason tournament. The Knights enter the 2025 spring season with an overall record of 6-1. Following their ECC Championship victory on Oct. 26 to win the program's 10
th ECC title in program history, the most in ECC history, the Knights clinched a spot in the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament set for May 2025.
Women's soccer head coach
Thomas Paris and his squad made ECC postseason play for the second straight season and earned the number three seed. It would be the highest finish in a single season since the 2012 season. The Knights finished the year with an overall record of 10-7-1 and 4-3 in ECC play and earned the #3 seed. The 10 wins are the most wins in a single season since the 2013 season.
Men's soccer head coach
Frank Vertullo and his squad won their first-ever regular season and finished the year with an overall record of 11-5-2 and an undefeated mark in ECC play with a record of 7-0-1 and earned the #1 seed. It is the third straight season the program has totaled double-digit wins to conclude the year.
Women's volleyball head coach
Stefan Leger and his squad would earn the program's first ECC Regular Season title and the program's first title since the 2004 season. The Knights finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 19-11 and a 9-3 mark in ECC play to earn the #2 seed for the second time in three seasons. The 19 wins would be the most in a single season since the 2008 season.
Also, it would be the second time in QC Athletics history and the first since the 2004 season that both women's tennis and women's volleyball won the ECC Regular Season title in the same year.
All-ECC Honors
In the end of the year awards for all six sports, Queens College earned a total of 26 All-ECC honors with all six sports being represented.
Women's cross country saw one junior
Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) earn All-ECC Second team honors, the team's first All-ECC honor since the 2011 season. While men's cross country senior
John Ray (Bellerose, N.Y.) earned First Team honors, the team's first All-ECC honor since the 2013 season.
Women's Tennis totaled five All-ECC honors with senior
Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) earning All-ECC First Team honors, while four Knights in seniors
Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland), Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden),
Kyra Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and junior
Regina Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico) were named to All-ECC Second team.
Women's Soccer recorded a program record six All-ECC honors with two student-athletes represented on each team. The senior duo of
Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) and
Sarah Anderson (East Setauket, N.Y.) were named to the All-ECC First Team. On the All-ECC Second Team the duo of senior
Erica Petrie (Marlboro, N.Y.) and rookie
Samantha Hines-Hirsch (Plainview, N.Y.), and lastly the duo of senior
Gabrielle Ciambella (Williamsville, N.Y.)
And junior
Adriana Melgar (Queens, N.Y.) were named to the All-ECC Third Team.
Men's Soccer recorded a program record seven All-ECC honors with four earning First Team honors and three earning Second Team honors. Leading the way was junior

Joaquim Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.), redshirt freshman
Thanasis Shehadeh (Nicosia, Cyprus), and junior midfielder
Kevin Johnson (Oakdale, N.Y.), with a spot on the All-ECC First Team. While the trio of sophomore
Miguel Soto Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain), freshman
Bastian Engeli (Bergen, Norway), and redshirt junior
Eyob Gaffigan (Walkersville, MD) were all awarded All-ECC Second Team honors.
Women's Volleyball totaled a program record six All-ECC honors led by seniors

Lindsay Osterhoudt (Orlando, FLA), freshman
Madi Hathaway (Edmond, OK) earning All-ECC Second Team honors. While junior
Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) earned Honorable Mention.
Queens would earn three major ECC awards with Shehadeh being named men's soccer Goalkeeper of the Year, while men's soccer head coach
Frank Vertullo and women's volleyball head coach
Stefan Leger were Coaches of the year by their respective peers.
All-East Region Honors
A total of five student-athletes earned All-East Region honors with Ray earning NCAA DII All-East Region honors. Men's soccer totaled a program record four Knights earning D2 CCA All-East Region honors led by junior

All-American Honors
For the third straight year men's soccer program earned All-American honors and the program's First Team honors with Cooke being named to the D2 CCA First Team.
ITA National & East Regional Rankings
Lastly, both the men's and women's tennis programs saw eight student-athletes earning ITA regionally ranking. In the East Region Singles Rankings men's tennis
Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) is ranked seventh,
junior
Alexis Martin-Gibiard (Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France) is ranked ninth, sophomore
Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) ranked 18
th and freshman
Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) is ranked 20
th while in the Doubles Ranking the duo of Foix Sotos and Anderson are ranked sixth and the duo of Martin-Gibiard and
Adam Laur (Boulogne Billancourt, France) are ranked 10
th entering the 2025 Championship campaign.
In the women's tennis East Region Singles Rankings, Hany-Fawzy is ranked fifth and Makal is ranked 15
th, while in the doubles ranking the duo of Makal and Berggren are ranked second entering the 2025 year. In the ITA National Singles Ranking Hany-Fawzy is ranked 50
th.
ECC Commissioner's Cup Update
In the ECC Commissioner's Cup Standing, the Knights concluded the fall season in first place with a total of 30.5 points.
