Women’s Basketball Conclude Buffalo Trip at Daemen

AMHERST, N.Y. – A two-game road trip concluded on Sunday afternoon as the Queens College women's basketball team battled the Wildcats of Daemen University in East Coast Conference play inside Lumsden Gymnasium.

Game Recap

Led by the sophomore duo Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) and Gianna Henriques (Bronx, N.Y.) the Knights opened the game on a quick 10-0 run forcing an early Wildcats timeout with 7:34 to go in the first quarter.

But the Wildcats would slowly get into rhythm and finish the first stanza on a 22-4 run as they took a 22-14 lead into the second quarter.

Second-quarter shooting struggles would hurt the Knights as the home side outscored the Knights 19-6 to take a 41-20 advantage heading into halftime.

The Knights came out with new energy to begin the third quarter as they traded shots with the Wildcats.

Trailing 55-33, queens would end the third quarter on a 6-1 run to cut their deficit down to 56-39 with 10 minutes to go in the game.

Queens would score the Wildcats 19-15 as they shot 53.8% from the field, while the Wildcats were held to 46.2% from the field on six made field goals.

The fourth quarter would see the Knights cut their deficit down to 11 points, 56-45 with 5:50 left in the game. The Knights' defense would hold the Wildcats scoreless for the first four minutes of the fourth quarter as they were 0-7 from the field.

But Daemen would rebuild the lead back to 20 points with an 11-2 run.

Despite holding the Wildcats to 20.0% shooting from the field in the fourth quarter with only three made field goals, the first-half deficit would prove to be too much as Queens fell short to the final score of 67-51.
