FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College volleyball team went 1-1 last week as they opened East Coast Conference play at home with a loss to defending champions Daemen before earning a thrilling comeback victory over D'Youville.
This week the Knights continue ECC play with a trip to Sparkill, N.Y as they matchup against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday (Sept. 27) evening before traveling to Albany with a non-conference match against The College of Saint Rose on Friday (Sept. 29) evening. Queens concludes the week at home on Saturday (Sept. 30) evening with a matchup against Mercy University in ECC play.

Queens College Knights Preview (7-4 Overall Record, 1-1 ECC)
- Head Coach Stefan Leger and the Knights went 1-1 last week as they opened ECC play with a 3-0 loss to defending champions Daemen Saturday afternoon before returning to the wins column with a 3-2 comeback victory over D'Youville Sunday afternoon.
- The Knights are led by sophomore Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) who has recorded 144 kills (3.27 kps), 18 service aces, 106 digs, and 19 blocks with four double-doubles.
- Conrad tied a career-high 20 kills to go with 16 in the 3-2 victory over D'Youville (9/24).
- She would record a career-best four blocks against Holy Family (9/8) and five services against Wilmington (9/9).
- Conrad was named ECC Player of the Week on September 11.
- Junior Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) has tallied 108 kills (second on the team), to go with 10 service aces, 141 digs, and four double-doubles on the season.
- Franco recorded a season-high 17 kills against Pace (9/12)
- The junior notched 19 digs against Wilmington (9/9).
- Franco has been named to the ECC Honor Roll sheet twice this season.
- Junior Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) tallied 381 assists, 106 digs, and 17 service aces to go with seven double-doubles on the season.
- She would record a season-best 48 assists in the win over Wilmington (9/9)
- Against Jefferson she would record her second straight 40-plus assist performance to go with a season-best 15 digs against Jefferson (9/9).
- Boudouris has been named ECC Weekly Award Sheet on three separate occasions earning Setter of the Week (2x), and Honor Roll (1x).
St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans Preview (2-5 Overall Record, 0-1 ECC)
- STAC enters the week with an overall record of 2-5 and 0-1 in conference play and are coming off a loss to Roberts Wesleyan in ECC play.
- It will be the first match-up against the Spartans since the 2002 season when the Knights earned a 3-0 victory.
- Jaizahir Marrero-George leads the offense having tallied 119 kills, seven service aces, and 17 blocks, while Lorielys Ruiz has recorded 35 kills, seven service aces, and 13 blocks.
The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights Preview (3-9 Overall Record)
- Saint Rose enters the week with an overall record of 3-9 and will match up against New Haven on Tuesday before hosting the Knights on Friday afternoon.
- It will third straight meeting against Queens and the first road match since the 2018 season when the Knights fell 3-0 on September 15, 2018.
- Jessica Vargas leads the offense having tallied 121 kills, and 14 service aces to go with 108 digs and 11 blocks. While Joanna Forrest has tallied 89 kills, 53 digs, and 26 blocks.
Mercy University Mavericks Preview (6-1 Overall Record, 1-0 ECC)
- Mercy enters the week with an overall record of 6-1 and 1-0 in ECC play. They will match up against Molloy on the road on Wednesday before traveling to Queens on Saturday afternoon.
- Queens leads the overall series 27-18 and ended an eight-match losing streak to the Mavericks last season with a 3-1 victory at home on Oct. 29.
- Larissa Schneid leads the offense having tallied 85 kills, 11 service aces, and 61 digs, while Julia Pomerleau has recorded 52 kills, and 22 blocks on the year.

The Knights return to the road with a local trip to Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Tuesday (Oct. 3) evening as they match up against the Lions of Molloy University in ECC play.
