ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Thursday, the Queens College men's and women's outdoor track and field team competed for the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by fellow conference member Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks in Rochester.
On the men's side, the Knights placed fifth earning 43 points, while the women's team earned 59 points to earn a fifth-place finish in the championship meet.
Men's Championship Highlights
- Doris Desir (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) earned a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters finals with a time of 11.26 and an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.28.
- Daniel Fuzailof (Queens, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 52.48 setting a new personal best in the event.
- Juan Cruz Ladino (Cali, Colombia) set a new personal best for the third time this season with a time of 2:06.25 in the 800 meters event.
- Damilola Babalola earned second place in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 16.17.
- The men's 4x100 relay team of Hakeem Griffiths (Portmore, Jamaica), Albert Wheeler (Mastic, N.Y.), Fuzailof, and Desir earned second place with a time of 44.17.
- In the long jump, Griffiths placed eighth with a jump of 6.12m and a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.70m.
- While Matthew Castro (Bayside, N.Y.) placed third in the Javelin event with a mark of 41.74m for a new career-best, while Wheeler placed fourth with a throw of 41.23m to set a career-best.
Women's Championship Highlights
- Khareena Primus (St. Andrew, Grenada) continued her ECC Outdoor Championship success earning a third-place finish with a time of 12.43 in the 100 meters final and a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 25.27.
- Fatima Morrobel (Long Beach, N.Y.) placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.82 as she set a new personal best.
- Bianca Hiltz (Southwick, Mass) would star as the senior placed third in the 100 Hurdles Finals with a time of 16.13 (new career-best), a new personal best in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:10.14 to place fifth.
- Hiltz would earn four third-place finishes in the championship meet including the 4x100, 4x400, and triple jump (10.48m)
- Two fifth-place finishes including the long jump (5.04m).
- The women's 4x100 relay team of Mahaillia Spencer, Primus, Hiltz, and Hayley Matthews (Freeport, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 51.28.
- While the 4x400 relay team of Morrobel, Primus, Hiltz, and Spencer placed third with a time of 4:16.52.
- In the Shot Put, Matthews placed seventh with a mark of 9.84m as the Freeport native set a new personal best.
- Madelyn McMath (Carmel, N.Y.) placed second in the Javelin with a mark of 31.06m
