#34 Men’s Tennis Ends 2023 Regular Season on a High Note

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Looking to end their 2023 regular season on a strong note, the Queens College men's tennis team (14-4 overall, 5-1 ECC) matched up against Daemen University Wildcats (5-15 overall, 0-5 ECC) in Western New York at Williamsville South High School in East Coast Conference play. 
 
The Knights would go undefeated in all nine matches played as Queens swept the doubles before taking all six singles matches for the final score of 7-0 Saturday afternoon. 
 
With the win, Queens complete the series sweep over the Wildcats as they earned their sixth straight victory over their conference foe. 
 
In doubles play, the #1 duo of senior Kareem Rashad (Alexandria, Egypt) and sophomore Cameron Henricy (Las Palmas, Spain) picked up a 6-1 victory over Alex Lumanog and Luis de Vuyst. 
 
Queens clinched the doubles victory at #2 doubles as the duo of graduate student Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) and junior Omar El Shehawey (Cairo, Egypt) defeated Zachary LaPlante and Phillip Vance to the score of 6-4. 
 
At #3 doubles the Knights duo of junior Tim Ostheimer (Frankfurt, Germany) and sophomore Philipp Uhde (Heidelberg, Germany) would complete the sweep as they defeated Rohan Chitanand and Adam Pasierb to the score of 6-0.
 
In singles play, Henricy picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lumanog at #1 singles before Rashad earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Vuyst at #2 singles. 
 
Borges at #3 singles would clinch the match over Vance with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
 
At #4 singles, Shehawey would earn a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Chitanand as Queens inched closer to a sweep. 
 
At #5 singles Uhde earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over LaPlanate before Ostheimer completed the sweep at #6 singles over Pasierb to the score of 6-3, 6-1. 
 
With the regular season concluded with an overall record of 14-4, 5-1 in conference play, Head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights set their sights on the East Coast Conference Championship set to begin Friday (Apr. 21) afternoon.
