WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced week five of the men's tennis weekly report sheet, and junior
Roni Rikkonen (Tampere, Finland) was awarded Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
In the Knights lone match of the week, Rikkonen was promoted to #1 singles and doubles against Adelphi on Thursday (Mar. 9) afternoon.
Making good use of his promotion, Rikkonen would go 2-0 against the Panthers as Queens swept the Panthers 7-0 to earn their fourth straight victory.
In doubles play, Rikkonen earned a 6-3 victory over Marko Jovanovic and Gabriel Balestero with partner senior
Lucas Demuth (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
While in singles, the junior would earn a three-set victory over Jovanovic. The Finland native would take the first set to the score of 7-5 before Jovanovic forced a third set with a 6-4 victory in the second set.
But Rikkonen would end his undefeated day with a 10-5 third-set tiebreaker victory before Queen went on to win 7-0.
